There are many things to think about when moving. There may even be things you will not think of until after the move such as: what is normal wear and tear during your move? We all want our belongings to be treated with care, but unfortunately accidents occur.
First, look at your pieces of furniture and note if they have imperfections currently. This will help you to know if something new has occurred or if the blemish was already on the piece of furniture. When moving to a new home, we will be quicker to notice something, because the surroundings have changed.
Next, once you know what the current state of your furniture, is to note any special pieces. If you have an antique, for example, make sure to point these out to your movers to ensure that they can take proper precautions.
Once, you have moved to your new home – take a look around and see what if any rubs or scratches have occurred. Note that some rubbing on the bottom of pieces is normal. There is an easy fix, for any rubs on your furniture, which is a furniture pen. These are available at Lowes and many other home specialty stores. You may also need to touch up the walls in a few places; if you had large pieces placed in smaller areas of the house. If you are going to paint your new home then this does not matter! Please do not hesitate to post questions and Happy Moving Day!
