We have noticed a trend in the moving industry over the second two quarters of 2010.  An increasing number of people are calling with a need to move their household goods.  Although we attribute this to our impeccable moving crews;  it is also an industry-wide trend.  Private and corporate household relocations continued to increase during the first three quarters of 2010, reflecting the gradual improvement in the overall U.S. economy, according to the latest issue of Industry Trends from the American Moving & Storage Association.

Perhaps most significantly, private household goods moves rose to nearly 5 percent after double-digit declines during the previous two years.  While corporate account shipments were up by four percent, and up 17 percent in October, from October 2009.

“After several difficult years for the professional moving industry, it looks like we may end 2010 on the upswing,” said Linda Bauer Darr, AMSA president and CEO. “Although individual shipments were flat for October, they were up about 5 percent for the entire year.”

The fall 2010 issue of Industry Trends also analyzes the latest data from the federal government’s Economic Census in various segments of the moving industry, including revenues, salaries and number of employees; examines geographic trends in the location of the booking agent by Metropolitan Statistical Area; and reports on the most popular shipping channels for the first three quarters of 2010 for different shipment types.

So what does this mean?  This means that the economy is becoming more stable and that consumers are feeling less concerned about spending their money.   This also means that the construction industry as well as the housing industry will continue to see a rise in their business.  This is exciting news for our country and we hope to help you all move to your next upgrade!
